Doily Garland {DIY}

For Olivia's birthday I plan on using Vintage style mixed with some modern patterns too. Her theme is Winter Wonderland, with pastel pinks and blues. I liked the idea of sewing together doilies to create a snowflake or wintry effect to string around the party area.
I left about 2" of slack in between each doily. Using clear nylon thread also worked well for me.

I sewed them all at the same area on the doily, about 2" from the top of each one so they all would hang uniformly.

 I cant wait to use them at her party!

Happy Whoo-lloween!

Last night was Olivia's first time trick-or-treating! She enjoyed herself, I mean, really...the whole day revolves around eating candy so of course she loved it. Her owl costume was handmade by me, definitely not how I planned it.
 I ordered her costume way in advance and it was never sent to me (lesson learned, be careful of who you buy from on Etsy...) so I had to run to the Mothership, a.k.a. Hobby Lobby and buy material and felt. It was super easy to make, and for my first ever costume I was pretty proud of myself.

A ba-yoon! Her favorite!

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
1, 2, 3, 4, 5....

With her cousins :)

Her matching trick-or-treat bag

It was a great night! Happy Halloween everyone!

Sewn Cake Bunting {Things I love}

I am obsessed with buntings right now. On cakes, hanging in my craft room, at parties, on invitations. I would wear them if that were socially acceptable, heh. The one above is a sample I made for my craft table at the Homespun Chic Marketplace. Each letter was die cut and glued on. (The blue pennant in the picture is seperate from the cake bunting)

This is an easy party project if you have the essentials needed. It is such a simple little decoration to add to the top of a cake, but it can really make a plain white cake look amazing!

I am making Olivia one for her 2nd birthday party, in matching colors and patterns to go with her theme. I think it would be cute to use pink thread for hers, or the contrasting dark brown that will match the invitation! Wait until you see the design for her invite, it is almost as sweet as she is.

Birthday Project #1 {Tulle Pom Poms}

The first project on my list is tulle pom poms. Last year I made the tissue paper ones, but this year I wanted something new. These look a lot harder to make than they actually are. I followed this tuturial and it was super easy to follow. I did a small one first, like the one on her site. But I wanted BIG ones to hang, so I cut the template out of a cardboard box and made it about 10" in diameter. You want to keep the center hole on the small side, as I learned.

I doubled my tulle and worked with about 6 yards at a time and wrapped it until it was all covered. It may take a few times to get it down. After doing three of them, I can do them quickly now. These can be made using different methods, but I am pretty happy with this way. Using the two cardboard pieces keeps everything round and in place.

I will be using mine to hang over the food tables and hanging from trees in the backyard at Olivia's 2nd birthday. :)  After using them, they would be so cute hanging in her room or you could easily re-use them.

I will post more pictures of this when my pink and blue tulle arrives this week. :)

{My first craft fair} Homespun Chic Marketplace

This weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to be part of a handmade craft fair, called Homespun Chic Marketplace. It was in Longwood, Florida which was about 2.5 hours away from Jacksonville. The day started out rather rainy and gloomy, but I had been looking forward to this for months so nothing was going to keep me from making the best of it! Here are some pictures of my tables and new products I displayed.

I met some talented women from the area, who also put their hearts into the handmade goods they made and got to chat a little about bussiness ideas and get some advice and give some as well. I had such a good time and loved the atmosphere, everyone was very friendly and happy despite the dreary day outside! :) Thank you to everyone who came and to Two Florida Girls who made it all possible.

a delicious discovery

This shop has been in my favorites for a while so I always see the new things they have made. I am so impressed with their skill that I had to share. Cake pops are still so popular and probrably will be around for a long time to come because they are so darn cute, stylish and yummy!
I am talking about the Cake Pop Shoppe on Etsy. They are super talented and create so many different styles of Cake Pops that almost anyone could find what they need in their shop.

Look at this, a Louis Vuitton purse cake pop!

One of my favorites is the variety pack you can buy with all kinds of designs

and if you have a toddler like I do, you know these guys pretty well!

It's Moose and Zee! :)

I am planning on getting these little penguins for Olivia's 2nd birthday party! I fell in love with them, they are adorable!

Happy Party Planning! :)

[part two] strawberry party

This weekend has not been a restful one because I had all these ideas that needed to be brought to life! :) Here is the rest of the items to compliment the strawberry birthday party theme. All of the items are made out of heavy card stock paper and have been doubled to add durability.

"Thank you berry much" treat bags. These are large enough to serve snacks in too, popcorn would be a good idea. It does kind of remind me of an old-fashioned popcorn box.

The coordinating pennant banner. Sewn together with ribbon and personalized with die cut letters.

Strawberry place cards/food labels. I can personalize these for you during printing.

A big 6.5" cake topper

Another mini cupcake stand I made. I really like the simplicity of this one.

a berry sweet party

Today I have been working on a new Strawberry theme for the summer birthdays. I finished a few items, but have a lot more to do! Here is the invitation + matching envelope, cupcake toppers and centerpiece. I also made a cute pennant style banner. All items will be available in my shop soon(some are already there).

Think of all the cute things you could incorporate into this theme! :)

I used rounded corners on this invitation and I love how it turned out!

Mini Cupcake Stands

I am in love with mini cupcake stands. I am already thinking of what I will do with them at Liv's next birthday! :) They can be made in different sizes, shapes and colors. I made this one above out of heavy cardstock paper and looped yellow ribbon through and made a bow. I didnt have a cupcake to stick up there, but I did sit my big circle punch on it and it held up just fine. :)

This cupcake stand design was created by svgshop. If you have a Cricut and SCAL- check them out!

[new] Owl Party Theme

Here is the latest theme in my Etsy shop. It has been a hit ever since putting it up 2 weeks ago. I love owls, birds and all of the cute little forest animals but this one is my favorite that I have done. The artwork was created by Lilly Bimble and might I say I like her style, a lot!

I wanted to incorporate the banner from the invitation into the party, so I made this one in the same colors. I like for things to coordinate, as you can tell.
