Happy Whoo-lloween!

Last night was Olivia's first time trick-or-treating! She enjoyed herself, I mean, really...the whole day revolves around eating candy so of course she loved it. Her owl costume was handmade by me, definitely not how I planned it.
 I ordered her costume way in advance and it was never sent to me (lesson learned, be careful of who you buy from on Etsy...) so I had to run to the Mothership, a.k.a. Hobby Lobby and buy material and felt. It was super easy to make, and for my first ever costume I was pretty proud of myself.

A ba-yoon! Her favorite!

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
1, 2, 3, 4, 5....

With her cousins :)

Her matching trick-or-treat bag

It was a great night! Happy Halloween everyone!

Sewn Cake Bunting {Things I love}

I am obsessed with buntings right now. On cakes, hanging in my craft room, at parties, on invitations. I would wear them if that were socially acceptable, heh. The one above is a sample I made for my craft table at the Homespun Chic Marketplace. Each letter was die cut and glued on. (The blue pennant in the picture is seperate from the cake bunting)

This is an easy party project if you have the essentials needed. It is such a simple little decoration to add to the top of a cake, but it can really make a plain white cake look amazing!

I am making Olivia one for her 2nd birthday party, in matching colors and patterns to go with her theme. I think it would be cute to use pink thread for hers, or the contrasting dark brown that will match the invitation! Wait until you see the design for her invite, it is almost as sweet as she is.

Birthday Project #1 {Tulle Pom Poms}

The first project on my list is tulle pom poms. Last year I made the tissue paper ones, but this year I wanted something new. These look a lot harder to make than they actually are. I followed this tuturial and it was super easy to follow. I did a small one first, like the one on her site. But I wanted BIG ones to hang, so I cut the template out of a cardboard box and made it about 10" in diameter. You want to keep the center hole on the small side, as I learned.

I doubled my tulle and worked with about 6 yards at a time and wrapped it until it was all covered. It may take a few times to get it down. After doing three of them, I can do them quickly now. These can be made using different methods, but I am pretty happy with this way. Using the two cardboard pieces keeps everything round and in place.

I will be using mine to hang over the food tables and hanging from trees in the backyard at Olivia's 2nd birthday. :)  After using them, they would be so cute hanging in her room or you could easily re-use them.

I will post more pictures of this when my pink and blue tulle arrives this week. :)

{My first craft fair} Homespun Chic Marketplace

This weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to be part of a handmade craft fair, called Homespun Chic Marketplace. It was in Longwood, Florida which was about 2.5 hours away from Jacksonville. The day started out rather rainy and gloomy, but I had been looking forward to this for months so nothing was going to keep me from making the best of it! Here are some pictures of my tables and new products I displayed.

I met some talented women from the area, who also put their hearts into the handmade goods they made and got to chat a little about bussiness ideas and get some advice and give some as well. I had such a good time and loved the atmosphere, everyone was very friendly and happy despite the dreary day outside! :) Thank you to everyone who came and to Two Florida Girls who made it all possible.
